If you do what you've always done, you'll get what you've always gotten. I love this Alcoholics Anonymous/Alanon slogan. To me it means if I repeat dysfunctional behavior, I won't get healthier. If I respond the same in relationships, unhealthy patterns persist.I'll take that one step further. If I don't change, it won't change but it will get worse. There's no status quo in relationships. My friend has a rageaholic husband. You couldn't ask for a nicer guy. He'd give you the Carhartt off his back. But he storms up over every little thing.
